Story
#1: We are now approaching a first for our nonprofit institute: a
FREE two-day Conference on Future Energy via the internet and
Zoom.com software (download the COFE12 Program. It is hoped that you can take
advantage of this opportunity, as one of our Future Energy eNews
subscribers, since you are the first to be informed of the very
convenient and accessible educational event. Registration is
limited. You may click here to

includes Space Solar Power, Gravitation, Energy Production,
Tesla, Inertial Propulsion, and Ufology. Don’t miss it.
Story #2
seems like science fiction but that is because it is something
different that has not been scaled up to the level of propulsion
which Professor Tang has discovered, until now. Producing a
plasma in air by ionizing the air with electrical high voltage
has been done before. However, this process utilizes powerful
microwaves to make a plasma thruster. Although NASA has used a
weaker version on a satellite in 2006, Tang’s invention is now
producing 10 newtons of thrust which is about what a model rocket
can do and enough to move a satellite around in earth orbit.
Story #3 is a great discovery for older
people. For only a few minutes a day, looking at a red light
source can improve eyesight. Many red and near IR light sources
are available online that satisfy the requirements, recently
published by the University College London in the J. of
Gerontology. An LED flashlight that has a 670 nm deep red
light beam stimulates the aging retina, rods, and cones, with
“significant improvement” reported by test subjects.
Story #4
is a true energy breakthrough accomplished by Exciton Science at
UNSW Sydney. Using quantum dots (nano crystals) to absorb low
energy light and oxygen to transfer light to organic molecules,
an energy transfer upward is accomplished, allowing organic
molecules to emit visible light above the silicon band gap. This
means that an additional bunch of light in the near infrared (IR)
can now be captured by silicon solar cells that up until now was
lost to the environment. The Nature Photonics article has all of
the details http://dx.doi.org/10.1038/s41566-020-0664-3 .
Story #5
offers a new and unusual method for a wind farm at sea. Create
“kites” that look like airplanes and really are carbon fiber
“airplanes” that are powered by the wind to stay aloft. More
precisely, they are “tethered drones” which also promise to
generate energy around the clock. The first tests of a 600 kW
kite have been performed off the coast of Norway and in
California and Hawaii. The big benefit is that the kites are 90 percent
lighter than wind turbines of a similar power rating. The
one-minute YouTube video is quite interesting .
Possibly the most amazing part of this story is that Shell (oil
company) is now a partner with the Makani wind energy kite
company. More
information is available in the 2019 article

2) A Jet Engine that Runs without Fossil Fuels
|
|
|
If this plasma propulsion tech is real, it could
change everything.
The basic idea, he said in an interview, is that
his device turns electricity directly into thrust — no fossil
fuels required — by using microwaves to energize compressed air
into a plasma state and shooting it out like a jet. Tang
suggested, without a hint of self-aggrandizement, that it could
likely be scaled up enough to fly large commercial passenger
planes. Eventually, he says, it might even power spaceships.

3) Aging Vision Significantly Improves with "Red
Light"
|
|
|
The retina
found within one’s eye ages alongside the rest of the body, slowly
resulting in a degradation of vision that can be substantial by
late life. A new study has found a promising at-home way to slow
down or possibly even reverse this decline, however, and it
involves ordinary red light. According to the researchers, it only
takes a few minutes of daily light exposure to experience positive
effects.

4) Oxygen Breathes New Life into Solar Cells Research

July 2020
Scientists
in Australia and the United States have been able to 'upconvert' low
energy light into high energy light, which can be captured by solar
cells, in a new way, with oxygen the surprise secret ingredient. The
results are published in Nature Photonics today. While the approach's
efficiencies are relatively low and more work is needed to achieve
commercialization, the research is an exciting development,
according to senior author Professor Tim Schmidt from the ARC Centre
of Excellence in Exciton Science and UNSW Sydney.
